Botanical Bark was created from a passion for wanting the very best care for my own dogs, and a desire to provide that same level of care to every dog that comes through my door. I believe grooming should be about more than simply making a dog look their best — it’s about caring for their overall wellbeing and making sure they feel comfortable throughout their visit.
I use carefully selected natural products and take the time to understand each dog as an individual, adapting their groom to suit their coat, skin and needs. Whether they’re visiting for a full groom, a bath & blow-dry, de-shedding or a little extra pampering, my aim is for every dog to leave feeling their best.
About me
Hi, I’m Ella, the founder of Botanical Bark. My journey into dog grooming started after getting my first Cockapoo, Phoebe, which sparked the idea that I might like to build a career working with dogs. I began as a Saturday bather in a busy grooming salon, and as my passion for the industry grew, I decided to pursue it as a career. I went on to complete an apprenticeship, gaining my City & Guilds qualifications while developing my skills and experience in the salon.
My passion for natural grooming products and holistic care has also been shaped by my own dogs. When Phoebe had her litter of seven puppies, we welcomed her firstborn, Maeve, into our family. Maeve suffers from environmental allergies, ongoing itchiness and ear problems, which led me to look more closely at natural health and holistic approaches to caring for dogs. Through my own experience with Maeve, I became particularly interested in how the products we use and the choices we make around a dog’s care can contribute to their overall wellbeing.
After more than nine years in the grooming industry, I decided it was time to create something of my own.
Botanical Bark brings together my experience in grooming with my passion for natural products and canine wellbeing. I’ve continued to develop my knowledge through further courses, including canine first aid and dental care, as well as learning more about holistic approaches to supporting dogs’ health. My aim is to keep learning and use that knowledge to provide the best possible care for every dog I work with.
